1. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small values stored by a browser. Local storage, session storage, pixels, tags, app installation/subscription identifiers and other device storage/access can perform similar functions. A server-side event is not automatically exempt from privacy rules simply because it is called server-side.

The rules depend on what a technology does, rather than whether it is first-party, third-party, a traditional cookie or part of an app. Essential requested functions and optional measurement/advertising have different purposes.

2. Essential access and security

Essential technologies support authentication/session renewal, security and abuse prevention, delivery of requested account/payment/upload features and remembering privacy choices. They are not optional advertising consent. Disabling them in browser/device settings can prevent secure sign-in or the requested service.

The dg_cookie_consent_v1 cookie records the current preference choice and is written with a one-year lifetime; drivegt.cookie-consent.v1 is the corresponding local-storage record. Authentication renewal uses the configured session period, currently up to 30 days, subject to logout, expiry and security checks. Session-scoped recovery/journey state can disappear when the browser session ends.

Browser storage is distinct from server records. Removing a cookie does not itself delete an account, a payment, a message or a server-held consent/audit record.

3. Functional preferences

Functional technologies remember optional interface, returning-visit and preference information. Necessary state for a feature you specifically request can also be stored to provide that feature. Not every preference is a geolocation permission.

Cookie Settings includes a Functional Cookies control for optional functional choices. Storage lifetime varies with the feature: session storage lasts for that browser session, while local storage persists until it expires under the feature's rules or is cleared. Device/browser restrictions can prevent persistence.

4. Analytics and advertising measurement

Google Analytics measures page/journey events and usage. Meta Pixel and server conversion events support advertising measurement and matching. Campaign attribution can include Meta and LinkedIn click identifiers, source/campaign fields and registration/purchase events. Advertising purposes are not essential to membership and hashing a contact identifier does not make it anonymous.

Google cookies commonly include _ga and _ga_*; Meta can use _fbp and _fbc. Our Meta attribution helper writes _fbc with a 90-day lifetime and can store drivegt.meta.attribution locally. LinkedIn attribution can use drivegt_li_fat_id with a 90-day lifetime and drivegt.linkedin.attribution locally. Provider lifetimes and renewed activity can differ; these are maximums set by the named DriveGT helpers, not a promise that all provider or server data is erased after 90 days.

The present preference panel exposes Essential, Analytics and Functional controls. Advertising and precise device-location permission are distinct purposes; a general Terms agreement or a device's type does not provide the informed choice required for optional tracking.

5. Country selection and device permissions

Your saved country, a chosen car market and approximate country inferred from IP are different from precise GPS location. They can be used to supply the requested regional price or valuation without a browser GPS request.

Any optional precise location access requires the relevant device/browser permission and purpose. Camera, microphone, photo selection, push notifications and app tracking permissions are separate from Cookie Settings. Neither accepting Terms nor clicking Accept All automatically grants those operating-system permissions.

6. Changing preferences and withdrawing consent

Open Cookie Settings through the footer of Home or a policy page. Accept All, Reject Non-Essential and the individual available choices record the panel's preference selection. The current implementation does not fully enforce those selections across browser analytics, attribution and server advertising conversions; saving Reject Non-Essential is not presently a complete switch-off for all optional measurement.

Browser/device settings let you delete stored identifiers or restrict storage. These controls can affect login and other requested functions. Local-storage entries do not automatically share a cookie's expiry. For a server-data deletion or direct-marketing objection, contact info@drivegt.com rather than assuming cookie deletion recalls already transmitted data.

Current mobile browser visits are automatically treated as Accept All before a saved preference is read. Native-wrapper handling differs, but a wrapper preference does not itself stop every server conversion. These are limitations of the existing implementation, not evidence of an informed affirmative choice or a waiver of your rights. A web cookie choice, a device push permission and Apple's or Google's store/privacy controls are separate.

7. External providers and apps

Following an external payment, event, source, sharing or app-store link can expose your browser/device to the destination provider's own cookies and terms. Their controls apply to that separate service; our footer choices are not a universal opt-out for every website you visit.

The DriveGT App Store/Google Play experience uses the web platform plus relevant operating-system/app delivery features. The Privacy Policy describes account, device, push and provider processing. An app download or a membership purchase is not a general consent to cross-service advertising tracking.

8. Updates and contact

We update this policy when technologies, providers, purposes or preference controls change. Where a new purpose requires consent, a new policy date does not replace that consent. Provider cookie details can change independently; contact info@drivegt.com for information about a specific cookie or processing operation.
